Lecturer in Creative Writing, University of Salford
Deadline: Mon 27 Jun 2022
The University of Salford takes pride in its local roots, while also being recognized for its excellence in teaching, research and enterprise activity regionally, nationally and internationally.

We sit at the heart of the Northern Powerhouse and actively engage with stakeholders across the region and beyond to embed our industry collaboration activity in the curriculum, ensuring our students receive the best possible experience and are fit for their future after graduation.

The School of Arts, Media and Creative Technology is a leading centre for practice-based education in the creative disciplines. Through significant investment in our staff and facilities, we are strengthening our position as a centre of excellence for socially engaged teaching practice and research whose graduates are sought after as content creators and for the innovative application of creative technology, both in the creative industries and across wider sectors of the economy.

Creative Writing is a high-performing subject area in the school and the appointment of a Lecturer in Creative Writing will enable us to maintain and strengthen this position.

The successful candidate will be expected to have a specialism in Prose Fiction and/or Creative Non-Fiction, including, but not limited to, the mediums of the novel, short story, essay, biography and experimental writing. Experimental writing is a strength of our postgraduate provision, and a strong candidate will ideally have an interest in this area of practice.

Depending on your research area and experience, you may be asked to teach and supervise postgraduate students, including in the development of their academic writing skills, and to develop further module provision at postgraduate level.

The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to our submission to the next Research Excellence Framework exercise; knowledge of research funding and experience in attracting funding from diverse sources would also be an advantage.

This is a part-time, permanent position and the starting salary is of £42,149 per annum (pro rata).
