Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Creative Writing, Open University

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences as a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Creative Writing.

With your specialism in one or more of the following genres: scriptwriting (for any medium), creative nonfiction, fiction, you will contribute to the development, teaching and assessment of modules.

You will also participate in the vibrant research culture of the discipline, through original scholarship and/or creative practice in the field of Creative Writing.

Please note, the order in which the genre specialisms above are listed reflects the department’s current requirements and may play a part in eventual shortlisting should candidates meet all other criteria.

Skills and experience
A PhD in a relevant subject or a practitioner/publication profile which may be considered equivalent to having a PhD in Creative Writing.
An established or emerging national reputation as a creative writer in one or more of the following genres; scriptwriting (any medium), creative nonfiction, fiction.
Ability to produce high-quality research outputs and/or creative works for submission to REF2021 and beyond.
A profile of teaching excellence in one or more of the following genres: scriptwriting (any medium), creative nonfiction, fiction.
The ability and readiness to prepare printed, audio-visual and online module materials; to support modules in presentation through online and face-to-face teaching; and to prepare assessment materials and participate in Quality Assurance and examination processes.
Efficiency and organisation skills, including the ability to work to deadlines, with evidence of being able to work in teams.
