Bath Spa University is seeking a Lecturer / Senior Lecturer in Writing for Young People. The role focuses on learning and teaching, programme design, development and delivery, supported by practice and research in Creative Writing.
You will have experience of university-level teaching, and a demonstrable track record in publishing for children and / or young people, a clear understanding of the market for children’s books and books for young adults, and of the contexts within which children and young people read and make choices about what to read.
You will make a key contribution to our highly successful Masters programme in Writing for Young People, and to undergraduate teaching.
You will be comfortable working in interdisciplinary teams, and willing to explore the potential connections between your own areas expertise and those of your colleagues elsewhere in the School and the wider University.
Creative writing is well-established at Bath Spa University with a large undergraduate programme, which includes combinations with subjects such as Publishing and English Literature, five taught MA programmes and a successful PhD Creative Writing programme.
We offer an MA in Writing for Young People, together with teaching in this field on our undergraduate courses. The MA is highly regarded in the industry, and has a successful track record in supporting students to become published authors. There are opportunities to build on this, and to contribute to the development of new short courses as well as to the continuing development of our established provision.
