Lucy Cavendish Fiction Prize 2026
Deadline: Wed 7 Jan 2026
Founded in 2010, the Lucy Cavendish Fiction Prize seeks submissions that seamlessly blend literary merit with captivating storytelling. Open to unagented women writers aged 18 or over (at the time of applying), and currently living in the UK, Ireland or the Channel Islands full time.
The work can be on any subject at all. We welcome submissions of literary fiction and genre fiction equally. Novels for young adults or children are acceptable if they are mainly word-based. Picture books are excluded.
The winner will receive a £1,500 prize, and all shortlisted authors will benefit from a one-on-one consultation with a literary agent at prize sponsor WME, including editorial feedback and invaluable publishing advice.
The Prize welcomes entries from women and non-binary writers, including those who publish under pen names.
Entry fee is £12
