The Poetry School is seeking an exceptional poet / educator to teach as a lecturer on the Poetry School / Newcastle University MA in Writing Poetry.
The successful candidate will join Glyn Maxwell as fellow tutor on the course, working with the MA administrator and Newcastle University School of English Literature, Language and Linguistics.
The MA in Writing Poetry is now in its successful ninth year with 2 full cohorts of 12 students in each year. Through a combination of masterclasses, practical workshop sessions, one-to-one tutorials and a week-long summer school, the two-year, part-time, course aims to help poets hone their craft in a collaborative and nurturing environment.
The successful candidate for the post should have experience of teaching prosody at a graduate level, be confident in leading workshops, and highly skilled in giving constructive feedback. Other academic or artistic research interests which have informed their practice are desirable. The successful candidate will be an established poet who has published a minimum of 2 collections and is an established member of the literary world.
The role is for a part time, 2-year renewable contract with a 6 month probationary period reporting to the School’s Executive Director.
