Marketing Freelancer, World Book Day

World Book Day® is looking for an enthusiastic and experienced marketing/comms professional to support on delivering the 2022 campaign from September 2021 – March 2022. The role would be 2/3 days per week working from home.

World Book Day changes lives through a love of books and shared reading. We promote reading for pleasure, offering every child and young person the opportunity to have a book of their own.

We are looking for someone with 2-3 years’ experience in a marketing/comms role who is creative, innovative and passionate about making a contribution to improving levels of reading and book ownership – particularly amongst disadvantaged children – across the UK & Ireland.

World Book Day is celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2022 so you would be supporting our plans to make this the biggest celebration yet!

Key Tasks:
Campaign support including writing video briefs for authors/illustrators, support on filming days and working with the video editor, writing campaign copy, pulling together communications for key stakeholders and supporting on partnerships;
Website management; managing website projects for the 2022 campaign, planning and writing content, briefing designers, working with the content management system (CMS) and scheduling activity;
Email communications; writing copy for a range of different audiences and building emails in Mailchimp;
Running the monthly World Book Day Book Club; recording the Q&A sessions with authors/illustrators, briefing the video editor, updating the website with content, sending out email communications;
Social media; managing the calendar including partner support, planning social media posts across our channels including briefing designers on asset creation;
Events; support with itineraries and logistics including liaising with venues, hosts, agents, publishers and authors/illustrators and helping on the day.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience: 
Excellent copywriting skills
Confident at communicating with a range of stakeholders including publishers, libraries, literacy charities, booksellers, schools and nurseries
Experience in briefing designers
Experience of using CMS (Wordpress in particular), Mailchimp and social media channels
Organised with good attention to detail
Knowledge of the publishing/charity sector useful but not essential.
