Murderous Ink Press: Call for submissions for CRIMEUCOPIA anthology
Deadline: Mon 31 May 2021
Murderous Ink Press is a new, independent publishing venture looking to present Crime Fiction in most of its many and varied guises. We are currently seeking submissions for CRIMEUCOPIA, an intended series of quarterly First Filled First To Press anthologies of crime fiction shorts ranging from 1,000 to 10,000 words. The submission windows for 2021 are 2 April - 31 May and 1 October - 30 November.

Very loose themed/suggested titles are:-

Grime Time
Severed heads blocking drains – or an item discovered in an attic trunk – something found while skip diving – or not found, as the case may be.Grime Time. Severed heads blocking drains – or an item discovered in an attic trunk – something found while skip diving – or not found, as the case may be.

The ‘I’s Have It
Investigators – either Private or Public Sector – Investigators who are even unlicenced – we’re looking for material that sets a tone as well as a scene, and puts some meat on those shallow grave bones.

Careless Love
Give us your tales of Crime, Passion and L for Love. Is it always a driving force for crime? Is it the centre of the crime itself? Hitchcock may well have said Dial M for Murder, but we say Dial C for Crime, extension L for Love

Side Projects
Those projects that are based on longer fiction or a niche theme.

An Alternative Line of Inquiry (LGBTQ)
Joseph Hansen had David Brandstetter, Richard Stevenson has Donald Strachey, Katherine V. Forrest has Kate Delafield, Patricia Highsmith’s Mr Ripley, Renee James’s Bobbi Logan…

Character first, orientation second – No Erotica or Romance-Centred – we’re looking for Crime, first and foremost – be it Police Procedural through to Cosy. And, as with Dead Man’s Hand, we’re looking for longer pieces that give characters a chance to breathe and develop.

Please Note:- We are not looking for pure Horror, Science Fiction, Fantasy, or work involving pre-existing characters (i.e. Fan Fiction).
