Open Book is a charity which runs accessible shared reading and creative writing sessions across Scotland for a diverse range of community and public participants. They are looking for Lead Readers in Dundee and the Letham area of Perth and are looking to start some new creative writing groups. They've also put out a call for new writing for their Unbound programme. Deadlines from 20 May.
Lead Reader in Dundee
Open Book is looking for a Lead Reader to support its creative writing programme in Dundee, running monthly sessions for the local community at Coldside Community Library on Mondays. As these sessions take place in person in Dundee, applicants living in that area are preferred. Deadline: 12pm on Wednesday 20 May 2026
Lead Reader in the Letham area of Perth
Open Book is looking for a Lead Reader to support its creative writing programme in the Letham area of Perth, running monthly sessions for the local community in the Letham Community Hub. As these sessions take place in person in Letham, applicants living in that area are preferred. Deadline: 12pm on Wednesday 20 May 2026
Could You be an Open Book Creative Writing Lead Reader?
We’re looking for five new Lead Readers to pilot new Open Book groups based in Scotland with populations or in geographical locations we don’t currently serve. Each of the pilot groups will run for five sessions between September 2026 – February 2027. We’re particularly looking to increase our support of multicultural groups in Scotland

New Writing Call Out
Open Book is seeking writing and supporting material from writers living and working in the UK for their Unbound programme. The fee paid to successful applicants is £220.
