Paines Plough Open Submissions Windows

At Paines Plough we are committed to discovering, championing and working with writers at every stage of their career. We are now launching a new Open Submissions programme to ensure we connect with more writers beyond our existing networks. Our first new submissions window closes on Wednesday 26th May 2021.
Who is this for?
Writers of all experience levels without agent representation.
What are Paines Plough looking for?
We’re interested in contemporary plays that tell us something about the world we live in today, from writers based in the UK and Ireland. We’re drawn to plays that are inherently theatrical, inventive with form and socially relevant. In our discovery of new writers, we’re particularly keen to receive work from writers and artists whose voices and stories are not currently represented in our programming.
How does it all work?
• You submit a 10-page extract of your writing.
• These will be handed to our internal artistic team to read.
• This will then lead to a face-to-face chat with the reader about your extract and your wider work.
We expect to be able to meet 300 writers between June and August. If we receive a greater number of submissions, we will arrange further meeting days that will happen in the autumn and by the end of 2021.
