StAnza – Scotland’s International Poetry Festival – in partnership with the Edwin Morgan Trust – is holding an open-call for two poets-in-residence for our 2023 festival.
The aim of these residencies is to support and promote marginalized voices in poetry: the residencies are open to poets of any level of experience who identify as being from a demographic that is currently under-represented in the literature sector.
Two positions are available:
1. The Open Award – open to poets who are Scottish by birth or current residence
2. The Translation Award – open to poets who write in a language other than English (including Gaelic & Scots), from any country
Applicants are invited to send in proposals for new work which engages with the 2023 festival theme – WILD : forms of resistance. We are particularly keen on submissions which align with Morgan’s own approach to poetry.
Each poet-in-residence will receive:
A £1400 fee
All accommodation for the festival, as well as a subsistence allowance
All travel costs within the UK to reach the festival, with a stated commitment to choosing alternatives to air travel (unless access reasons make that impossible)
Access to a virtual archive of selected Edwin Morgan material, compiled by the Edwin Morgan Trust
Access to all events at StAnza 23/all virtual events at StAnza 23
