QAA invites expressions of interest for Chairs and Deputy Chairs for Subject Benchmark Statement reviews
QAA (The Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education) is inviting expressions of interest from the academic and subject communities to act as Chairs and Deputy Chairs for the review of 12 Subject Benchmark Statements including Creative Writing.
QAA leads the development of Subject Benchmark Statements and reviews them on a cyclical basis to ensure they are as useful as possible for discipline communities and can fulfill a range of purposes across the sector, including providing support for securing academic standards through course design and review.
QAA is committed to ensuring that the roles of Chair and Deputy Chair reflect the rich diversity of the subject communities, with the aim of promoting equality, diversity and inclusivity in the development and content of the Statements.
Among the subjects that QAA will be reviewing in 2022-23 are:
• Communication, Media, Film and Cultural Studies
• Creative Writing
• Librarianship, Information, Knowledge, Records and Archives Management
Academic representatives will only be drawn from higher education providers who are QAA Members.
The call for expressions of interest to join the subject Advisory Groups as members will be released in October once chairs and deputy chairs have been identified.

Seraphima Kennedy, NAWE Director says, 'These statements are an important tool in Higher Education provision, ensuring quality of course content and support for students. NAWE’s work on the previous benchmark statement has been widely recognised. It’s important that the new statement also reflects the rich diversity and strength of the creative writing community. We hope that several of you will consider sending in an expression of interest. If you would like to talk to someone at NAWE about this, do contact me in the first instance at admin@nawe.co.uk'
