Quay Words writer-in-residence for March 2026, Literature Works

Literature Works are looking for a Quay Words Spring writer in residence for the month of March 2026 at Exeter Custom House as part of the Quay Words live literature programme.

The theme for Quay Words Spring 2026 is Reflections. We’re looking for a a writer, storyteller, spoken word artist or other wordsmith to engage with the Custom House as a place of thought and a home for words and stories – for the last seven years, and throughout its history.

This will initially be through a period of research and development in March 2026, followed by the presentation of their commissioned piece and activities in week beginning 4th May. The commission might be an installation, or an audio or visual piece, or it might be an in-person performance or interaction.

There is an inclusive fee of £1,500 for the residency, plus a budget for the production of the commission (up to a maximum of £1,000).
