Each Reader in Residence brings people together in groups in prisons or probation settings, to read great stories and poems aloud, creating spaces where people feel at ease, can create connections, and understand themselves and others more.
We want to grow our Shared Reading movement in the criminal justice sector so that more people in the care of prisons and probation settings can experience the power of literature and reading aloud. We currently work in 30 prison and probation settings, which is growing.
Our Criminal Justice work is delivered by a nationwide team of skilled Shared Reading practitioners who love great literature and are motivated to break down barriers to help others experience its power.
