Senior Lecturer in Creative Writing, University of East London
Deadline: Thu 27 Sep 2018
UEL is seeking a dynamic new colleague to lead the development of BA Creative & Professional Writing, and to contribute to teaching on the programme. Applicants for the post will combine experience of teaching and research in Higher Education with professional skills, experience and a strong publication record.

The UEL student body is rich in its diversity; students are drawn from a wide range of backgrounds and age-groups, with a high proportion from low income groups. We look for outstanding teachers who inspire students and colleagues through their approach to teaching, and who are strongly committed to raising levels of student achievement.

Evidence of a significant contribution to knowledge in your field, through publications and creative work, is essential. Applicants will be also able to lead/contribute to the teaching of one or more of the following areas: poetry, fiction, creative non-fiction, dramatic writing or screenwriting. Applicants will normally be expected to have a PhD or be in the process of completion. Consideration will be given to applicants who do not hold a PhD but who can demonstrate considerable professional experience, publication and academic engagement.

We are looking to develop the programme, particularly in terms of professional development for undergraduate students, and you will therefore have experience of developing industry contacts and engaging students with the academic discipline of creative writing, the professional skills required for graduate employment, and activities and opportunities which will connect them to the wider creative industries.
