The National Coal Mining Museum are looking for a storyteller/storywriter to deliver a series of learning activities linked to a new special exhibition about pit ponies
The storyteller/writer will be expected to:
- Plan and deliver an exciting creative writing workshop suitable for primary school children, with an emphasis on listening to stories and stimulating ideas for writing activities back in school
- Create post-workshop resources for teachers to use before and following the visit, which can be later used as part of a literacy loans box.
- Have public liability insurance and CRB clearance
- Be willing to be videoed for marketing purposes.
Personal qualities and skills
We are looking for the following skills and experience:
- Experience of working with primary-aged school pupils and mixed family groups
- A track record of planning and delivering successful creative writing workshops and storytelling events
- Ability to make connection between the Museum, exhibition and creative writing/story-telling activities.
- Experience of creating teacher-friendly activities
- Approachable, enthusiastic and friendly personality
- A sense of discovery and passion for working within heritage environments.
