Subject Leader Creative Writing and Publishing, Programme Coordinator, West Dean College
Deadline: Mon 28 May 2018
West Dean College currently has an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic writer and author to be Subject Leader of Creative Writing and Publishing. Working within the School of Arts, the post holder will be responsible for the organisation and delivery of subject specialist curriculum at Masters level, as well as advising on the programming of Creative Writing Short Courses, as agreed with the Head of School.

West Dean College has an international reputation for excellence in creative arts and conservation and specialises in practical teaching at post graduate level. The College is part of The Edward James Foundation, a charitable educational trust located on the 6,400 acre West Dean Estate in beautiful West Sussex countryside near Chichester. The College is affiliated to the University of Sussex.

The Creative Writing and Publishing MA is a two year part-time, block delivery programme validated by the University of Sussex. The twelve three day intensive study blocks foster an immersive atelier-style experience within the College's School of Arts and allows for self-determination in independent practice. Subject-specific study within the broad contextual experience of a multi-disciplinary arts and conservation college, a low staff-to-student ratio, tutors who are professional authors, and visiting industry professionals, contribute to a unique experience. With the course established for nearly three decades, West Dean alumni are leading practitioners both in the UK and beyond.

The ideal candidate for this position will have demonstrable experience in creative writing with experience of teaching, assessment and administration in higher education, as well as a track record of successful programme management.
