Teaching Associate (Part Time, Fixed Term), The University of Cambridge Professional and Continuing Education (PACE)
Deadline: Mon 20 Apr 2026
The University of Cambridge Professional and Continuing Education (PACE) delivers high quality education for adult learners on a part-time basis. We wish to appoint two part-time Teaching Associates at 0.5 FTE to contribute to the expanding MSt in Creative Writing and our portfolio of award-bearing and short course creative writing programmes.
PACE aims to ensure the expertise and resources of the University of Cambridge are made available to all students, irrespective of their previous educational achievements. PACE at the University of Cambridge has a growing reputation for the teaching of creative writing and a strong record of alumni achievement. A number of our graduates have produced significant publications, won writing prizes and created work for stage and screen. Many former students have progressed to doctoral study.
PACE creative writing teaching is delivered both in person and online. Weekend courses and summer courses are taught in Cambridge while undergraduate award-bearing courses and short courses are delivered via online provision. The MSt in Creative Writing is taught on a low-residency model over regularly scheduled weeks in Cambridge. The roles will be compatible with hybrid working but there will be an expectation of in-person attendance as required.
We are seeking candidates with the following specialisms:
One Teaching Associate (0.5 FTE) specialist in fiction with additional expertise in either creative non-fiction, poetry or screenwriting.
One Teaching Associate (0.5 FTE) with expertise in two or more of the following genres: creative non-fiction, poetry or screenwriting.
Candidates should be published writers with broad experience of teaching creative writing in higher education. It is desirable though not essential that they should hold a PhD or MFA in Creative Writing. They will be committed to further developing knowledge of their subject areas and to maintaining a creative practice in their fields of expertise.
These posts are offered on a three-year fixed contract in the first instance.
