Dartington Arts and Counterpoint Arts invite applications for a residency at the Dartington Hall Trust for an artist of any discipline eager to explore the role of public art in relation to pop culture and human migration/displacement. They are particularly interested in hearing from poets, spoken word artists and visual artists.
The residency will take place from 9 – 19 October 2019 on the Dartington Hall Estate, a 1200-acre medieval estate in South Devon near the town of Totnes. Accommodation and subsistence will be provided along with a fee of £1,500, offered by Counterpoint Arts.
The residency corresponds in part to Counterpoints bi-annual retreat at Dartington that will in 2018 bring together individuals from the worlds of the visual and performing arts, broadcast media, entertainment, advertising, fashion, social media, philanthropy, charity and policy sectors. The aim of this cross-sector gathering is to engage with the field of popular culture to imaginatively re-shape narratives around migration and global displacement.
Dartington is a welcoming, peaceful space for reflective work and emergent ideas. You will be supported by the arts team during your time with them.
