The FarmED Chelsea Green Young Writers’ Prize

Are you aged 16-30? Do you have something important to say about sustainable food, regenerative agriculture, biodiversity and climate change? FarmED, in partnership with Chelsea Green Publishing UK, are launching The FarmED Chelsea Green Young Writers’ Prize, a new writing competition for people aged 16–30.
We are looking for exciting new voices who are passionate about helping to build sustainable food and farming systems that nourish people and regenerate the planet.
We are asking entrants to write up to 1,500 words about any subject across the spectrum of ecological food, farming and the environment. We are looking for powerful, inspiring articles, pieces of fiction, journals, blogs or opinion pieces. Entrants must be residing in the UK.
Judging the inaugural award will be award-winning author Nicola Chester, Muna Reyal (Head of Editorial, Chelsea Green Publishing UK), author and Farm & Food Literature Festival Director Fiona Mountain and author and naturalist Stephen Moss.
Finalists will be invited to attend the Farm & Food Literature Festival on Saturday 13 May 2023 at FarmED where the winner will be announced. Prizes include a ‘library’ of Chelsea Green titles worth £700, plus an exclusive one-to-one session with Muna Reyal, Head of Editorial at Chelsea Green. The winning submission will be published on the FarmED and Chelsea Green websites and shared across social media.
