The Jed Mercurio Mentoring Programme
Deadline: Fri 21 Apr 2023
Jed Mercurio is launching a new mentorship programme for budding writers in the UK. He hopes it will give more opportunities to those who live outside of London and are from low-income backgrounds or are underrepresented in the UK’s TV industry.
The programme is expected to run over a 12-month period beginning May 2023, and will accept 6-10 mentees total in the first year.
In addition to Jed, the following talent will be participating as mentors in the 2023/24 programme: Emma Frost, Jack Thorne, Marnie Dickens, Steven Moffat and Vinay Patel. Each mentee will work with their mentor to pitch an original idea and hopefully secure a commission.
No entry fee required.
We want to work with talent who are passionate about writing but may be struggling to get a “foot in the door.” All applicants must be over the age of 18 on 1st January?2023, and must be a resident in the UK or Ireland.
This programme aims to serve budding writers in the UK. You need not have had any previous or existing credits as a writer, co-writer or contributing writer of TV or film releases.
We also actively encourage participants from diverse and underrepresented communities in terms of ethnicity, disability and/or socio-economic background.
