The Kipling Society invites competitors to submit stories of up to 2500 words on any aspect of food or drink. The stories should be connected, whether directly or obliquely, with the writings and/or life of Kipling. The Kipling Society also offer a Competition for Younger Writers under 18.
This writing competition is funded by the generosity of the late John McGivering.
Rudyard Kipling wrote often about the pleasures (and occasional dangers) of sharing food and drink in all ranks and races, from the boy Kim enjoying Indian street food with the holy man he befriends to a wealthy Frenchman pouring out miraculous champagne.

Competition for Younger Writers under 18: The Kipling Society also offer a Competition for Younger Writers under 18 for stories of up to 2000 words about food or drink, which should likewise be connected with the writings and/or life of Kipling. The Kipling Society offers a Prize of £75, and £25 for the runner-up.
There is an entry charge of £8 for each entry, or £5 for younger writers.
