The Poetry Society presents the National Poetry Competition 2019: Open for entries

Enter The Poetry Society’s National Poetry Competition, now in its 41st year and one of the world’s biggest, most prestigious poetry contests. £5,000 first prize. Open to all writers aged 17 and over. Previous winners include Carol Ann Duffy, James Berry, Tony Harrison and Jo Shapcott.
The judging panel – Helen Mort, Mona Arshi and Maurice Riordan – will read all the entries.
The competition is for previously unpublished poems of up to 40 lines in length.
Ten Prizes
First Prize: £5000
Second Prize: £2000
Third Prize: £1000
Seven commendations: £200
Winning poems are published on the Poetry Society's website and in an anthology where it will reach an audience of poetry fans across the world.
Entry Fee: £7 for the first poem | £4 for each subsequent poem
