The Royal Mint Museum Short Story Competition 2026

A golden opportunity for young writers! We are asking 7-11-year-olds to write a story about Gold using no more than 500-words. Free to enter.

From buried treasure to secret vaults filled with gold bars and coin hoards, we are asking students to engage their imagination and write about glistening gold. 

The winner will receive a gold coin, £5,000 for their school or local library, and their story illustrated by an artist.

Open to anyone aged 7 to 11 at the time of entry, who lives in, and is schooled or homeschooled, the United Kingdom.
