The TA First Translation Prize

The TA First Translation Prize is an annual £2,000 prize for a debut literary translation into English published in the UK and Ireland. The Prize is shared between the translator and their editor.
The Prize was established in 2017 and generously endowed by Daniel Hahn, with support from the British Council.
The translation must be a full-length prose work but can be of any genre including fiction e.g. a novel for adults or children, a volume of short stories, non-fiction, or drama.
The translation must have been first published in the UK or Ireland between 1 April 2020 and 31 March 2021.
The work must be the first published solo book-length literary translation by the translator. The book must have an editor.
There are no residence or nationality restrictions.
Submissions must be made by the publisher.
