The V.S. Pritchett Short Story Prize 2026

The RSL V.S. Pritchett Short Story Prize, supported by ALCS, seeks to find the best unpublished short story of the year. £1,000 Prize. The winning story will also be published in our annual Review magazine alongside works from our Fellowship of celebrated writers.
Open to entrants resident in the UK, Republic of Ireland or Commonwealth.
This year’s judges are Kirsty Gunn, Anjali Joseph, and Tom Vowler.
Entry fees: £8.00 per entry
50 free entries available to low-income writers based in the UK.
