Deadline: Fri 27 Feb 2026
The annual Year’s Work in English Studies (OUP) is currently looking for contributors for two chapters within the ‘Modern’ section, which covers British and Irish literature after 1900. These are: Fiction 1930-1945; Poetry Pre-1950.
The role involves reading through as much criticism (monographs & articles) on that section for a given year as you can find and then writing a c.4000 word summary review. Incentives include:

• Engagement with contemporary criticism
• A small payment
The annual deadline is the 1st of November and we work a year in arrears. I am looking for contributors to produce their first piece for November 1st 2026, covering material published in 2025, with the expectation that the role is taken on for 3 years.
