Visiting Poetry Fellow (0.3FTE), University of East Anglia
Deadline: Mon 21 Mar 2022
UEA has some of the most innovative and highly regarded centres for research in the UK. Applications are invited for the post of Visiting Poetry Fellow to undertake research in collaboration with Dr. Jeremy Noel-Tod and Justine Mann in order to develop ‘New Ways of Collecting, Collaborating and Curating: Towards a Centre for Contemporary Poetry in the Archive’ which is funded through an Andrew W Mellon Foundation grant.
This project seeks funding to plan and pilot a community-led approach to the building of a Centre for Contemporary Poetry in the Archive. The University of East Anglia (UEA) intends to establish such a centre within the British Archive for Contemporary Writing at UEA, expanding our existing networks of authors, researchers, archivists and public organisations in new directions.
This Centre will have at its heart a pioneering collection of underrepresented poetries, the development of which will be informed by an actively revisionist response to the historical canonisation of white male poets working in discursive lyric modes, which has marginalised many other voices of interest and importance to readers, students, teachers and scholars of poetry in Britain and Ireland.
You will have a strong publication record in poetry, showing evidence of work of national quality, plus demonstrable familiarity with the challenges faced by historically underrepresented poets in British and Irish literary culture.
The research will be based at the University of East Anglia in the School of Literature, Drama and Creative Writing and the British Archive for Contemporary Writing at UEA.
This post is available on a part-time (0.3FTE) basis from 1 June 2022 for a fixed-term period of 18 months. Job Ref: RA1949
