Wells Festival of Literature International Competitions 2021

Entries are invited for this year's International Competitions, an integral part of the Wells Festival of Literature. We have four categories of competition: The Open Poetry Competition, the Short Story Competition, a Book for Children Competition and finally the Young Poets Competition.
2021 Open Poetry Competition
Max 35 lines. Any subject.
Judge: Owen Sheers
1st prize £1000, 2nd £500, 3rd prize £250. Plus an opportunity to win a Local Prize of £100.

2021 Short Story Competition
1,000 - 2,000 words. any subject.
Judge: Sally Bayley
1st prize £750, 2nd prize £300, 3rd prize £200. Plus an opportunity to win a Local Prize of £100.

2021 Book for Children Competition
First two chapters or first twenty pages, whichever is the shortest, together with the synopsis of up to two pages and the age range of the book specified. Books hould be aimed at readers between the ages of 7-16 years.
Judge: Dr Joanna Nadin
1st prize £750, 2nd prize £300, 3rd prize £200. Plus an opportunity to win a Local Prize of £100.

2021 Young Poets Competition
Max 35 lines. Any subject. Entrants must be aged 16 to 22 inclusive, at the closing submission date.
Judge: Phoebe Stuckes
1st prize £150, 2nd prize £75, 3rd prize £50. All three prize winners will also receive a year’s subscription to the Poetry Society.
