We are looking for new writers to join our team for the programme,The Jury(working title). The show is made up of fictional court cases. The cases will be played out over three days in half-hour episodes.
One episode is the dramatized pre recorded case the others filmed as live in the secret jury room, where members of the public decide the fate of the accused.
Those involved in the case are actors, the jury is made up of members of the general public eligible for real jury service: it’s the jury who decide the verdict.
Action takes place in the fictional courtroom and the “reality” jury room with occasional brief glimpses of waiting areas outside the courtroom.
The stories are taken from a wide variety of criminal charges and also some civil cases such as libel, insurance, or copyright claims.
We are looking for writers to write the court scenes.
In this 1ststage the best scripts will be shortlisted and the writers invited to write a full one-hour episode to be presented to the broadcaster. Winning writers will be commissioned to write episodes of the series.
The Brief
Write a fifteen-minute courtroom sequence based on a current real case showing some part of the legal proceedings. You could include a cross examination of a key witness’s and or the defendant/s or the judge explaining the case to the jury. We are looking for moments that would affect the jury in the court.
