Writer in Residence, Friends of St Michaels in Mere

The Friends of St Michaels the Archangel Church in Mere supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund is seeking a Writer-in-Residence. Mere is situated on the Wiltshire, Somerset and Dorset borders. This temporary post will run September 2024 - June 2025.

The writer will research and develop original family-friendly work inspired by the town, the Tower of the Church and the rich history of the local environs. They will also work with local schoolchildren to develop creative stories around the Tower, run a workshop for emerging or aspiring writers and contribute to the performance event which will mark the finale of the Tower Stories in June 2025.

The residency will take place over ten months from September 2024 - June 2025.

This is not a faith-led project. It is a community project. It is important that it draws all to the rich heritage of the building.
