Writer-In-Residence, University of York
Deadline: Mon 25 Nov 2019
The department of English and Related Literature is looking to appoint a creative writer with a record of outstanding literary achievement and a well-established international reputation to a fixed-term Writer-in-Residence position (0.2 FTE).

This appointment coincides with the launch of our PhD in English with Creative Writing option, and new BA and MA writing modules. The successful candidate will produce high-profile publications, and will take a lead in inspiring and guiding students and staff as they develop their own creative and critical profiles.

We will especially welcome applications from BAME candidates, who are currently under-represented within the department. Experience of multilingual approaches and/or translation will also be welcome.

As writer-in-residence, you will be supported in your own writing and research, while running a termly masterclass series and jointly coordinating our prestigious Writers at York series. You will play a crucial role in developing a new creative research cluster, working with writers and researchers to support creative and practice-based research at the university.

The successful candidate will have a significant track record of achievement and professional experience in the field of creative writing and possess expertise in creative practice and/or practice-based research with the potential to complement and enhance the department’s research strategy and goals, together with the ability to design and deliver creative teaching material, and to inspire our students in their own creative endeavours.

This post is available on a fixed term basis for two years and seven months. The successful candidate will be expected to be in York for around two weeks in each of our three teaching terms. Job Ref: 8142
