This is the perfect option for those children's authors who want to develop their writing, but don’t want to stick to the structured schedule of a traditional correspondence course. This option gives you the advantage of writing when and where it suits you so it’s ideal for those juggling work and/or family commitments.
Mentoring Scheme (Limited Places Only)
Over the course of a year you will be mentored by a carefully chosen editor through a series of one to one communications via email or post. Your editor will give you invaluable and individual guidance on your writing over six sessions. You may submit up to 10,000 words to your mentor per session but, so that your editor has the time to give you best advice possible, we do ask that you make no more than one submission per month. At the end of the twelve months you may submit a completed manuscript (up to 60,000 words) for a final read-through and assessment.
This is a bespoke service so it is up to you exactly what you choose to submit. You could submit a different book (or part of a book) each session. However, most authors choose to use our mentoring service to develop one particular piece of writing.
We currently only have two editors working on our mentoring service so, in order to maintain the individuality of this particular service, we can only accept a limited number of applicants every year.
