I?ve worked with Lucy for ten years at Bath Spa University: she?s an enthusiastic, versatile teacher and communicator with experience at undergraduate, MA and PhD levels. She combines attention to detail with the ability to organise and inspire. Using her extensive skills as a performance poet she regularly coaches students (and staff) in techniques of presentation. She also teaches prose fiction, including the Love Story, short story, and courses shared with our literature department. She?s used to travel and exporting her talents, for example on educational tours sponsored by the British Council. Multi-purpose and thoroughly recommended.

I have known Lucy English in her capacity as a writer, performance poet, mentor, teacher and director for the past 5 years, intially through my work at Apples and Snakes (where I was the South West Regional Coordinator) and more recently in a personal capacity as the mentor for my first novel.
Lucy is a deeply committed, inspiring and positively rigorous coach who gives her all as a facilitator. She is good at working with people at different levels of experience, confidence and ability (as evidenced by her mentoring of all the poets on Apples and Snakes's national tour, EXPOSED) and she works in a very creative way.
Her approach is always encouraging, never intimidating, and yet she still manages to stretch people's potential and give useful feedback.
As an artist she is one of the best in the region, and has the additional gift of being talented in more than one medium. Her standing as both a poet and a novelist are equal and in both capacities she is well-respected.
As a teacher, she works on one of the best creative writing MA programmes in the country (at Bath Spa University ColIege). I cannot recommend her more highly.
