The Progressive Playwright Award 2016
Deadline: Thu 19 Nov 2015
Tron are offering playwrights in all stages of their career that are Scottish or based in Scotland the opportunity to become recipient of the Tron's new Progressive Playwright Award
Due to a high demand from you -our playwrights- and the success of previous seasons, this Autumn the Tron are offering playwrights in all stages of their career that are Scottish or based in Scotland the opportunity to become recipient of the Tron's new Progressive Playwright Award. The winner of this new award will receive a £2000 bursary to develop their work up to seventy minutes and receive creative and production support to stage a 'work in progress' rehearsed reading at the Tron in June 2016.
Another new twist this season is that there are three possible themes the Tron would like you to base your plays around. These themes are: 'Love,' 'Labour' or 'Loss.' Submitted plays can be based on one of these themes for any given month and the Tron ask that you submit anonymously. Further details can be found in the Tron's guidelines.
As in previous seasons, the audience will vote for the script that they feel should be progressed at the next event. This time however, the top two will then be submitted to the final event in January 2016. The successful writers will have the opportunity to take on feedback given, look at the strengths and weaknesses of their script, and develop their piece further for the final in January. These scripts will be progressed up to a maximum of 20 pages (including the initial first 10).
In January all six 20 minute plays will then be performed as a rehearsed readings in front of an audience and a panel of industry experts. This judging panel will then choose one play to win overall and receive the bursary.
