With the right inspiration, encouragement and guidance, it’s amazing how many people can come up with amazing ideas. While my passion lies in Children’s Fiction (as a writer and reviewer), I take a holistic approach to writing when facilitating workshops: sharing how writing theory and practice help support a writer’s craft, no matter who their audience will be.
Below is a summary of what I offer, please look under Portfolio for more information or visit my website (www.benjaminscott.net).
I can facilitate creative writing workshops across all Key Stages and with adults, having worked with a various schools, organisations and writers’ groups.
I offer a critiquing and editorial report service for anyone writing for children.
I’ve also been a Writer-in-Residence at two primary schools, taking part in an exciting Book-in-a-Week project where all students from Reception to Year 6 were challenged to create their own book in just five days, with amazing results!
If you are looking for an enthusiastic creative writing tutor, or need feedback on your writing, please get in touch.
Teaching:
My experience teaching includes numerous primary school author visits, over 100 hours F.E. Creative Writing teaching (as part of the AS Level in Creative Writing), working as online tutor for the Oxford University’s Department of Continuing Education, and several specialist courses for the Writers’ Summer School, Swanwick. I am also a tutor for the Uppingham Summer School working with Key Stage 2, 3 and 4 students.
Editorial Services:
Every writer needs a fresh pair of eyes on their work at different stages of their writing journey. As an experienced writer and reviewer, I offer a private critique service giving thoughtful feedback and guidance on how to develop your writing and stories. I’ve worked with different clients from around the world, from fledging to more experienced writers, giving them honest but practical advice and encouragement. Many clients like to plunge in with a full book review, but I also offer mentoring support and single chapter reviews focused on super charging their prose.
"Thank you again for your expertise, and for showing me creative ways to give my story focus. Your constructive insights make me excited to get started revising. I won’t hesitate to recommend you to other writers." Shelley Harrington
