I have visited hundreds of primary schools (and libraries) in the UK and abroad where I give lively interactive performances that are designed to enthuse and excite children about reading and writing. I share stories and poems, talk about writing and being a writer and also provide workshops to help children create characters and develop stories of their own.

Latest titles include The Awful Astronaut (Watts), The Disastrous Dentist (Watts) and Farmer Finn's Silly Sheep (Watts).

I'm currently working on small independent reading books for primary school aged children, and on a couple of bigger books for older readers.

We have invited the author Damian Harvey to many events in Lancashire Libraries and I can recomend him most highly to schools and other library services.

His performances are always lively and great fun and he is equally able to relate to nursery classes, primary school groups or family audiences. Damian engages well with the children and their parents and encourages the audience to join in and take part with raps, rhymes, etc. He brings an assortment of interesting props which really help to bring his stories to life and we have always received excellent feedback from any of the events he has attended.

Damian demonstrates the stages in the production of a book: the initial writing of the story, the creation of the illustrations and the process of publication. The audience always find this fascinating. His stories always include an element of humour which is reflected in his presentation and which draws in even the most reluctant reader.

Damian has always been reliable and organised and he is a pleasure to deal with and I am happy to recommend him.

Damian worked with Mid Pennine Arts earlier this summer in a project with reluctant readers aged between 9 & 12 years old under the umbrella of a ?Reading is Fundamental? project.  Damian showed high quality inter-personal skills in relating to a group of children who did not know each other before the workshops began.  The quality of delivery was high with the children fully engaged in developing ideas for writing.
